FDR Committee Members Present at 60th Annual LDA International Conference
In February, FDR education consultant Rosalie Boone, Ed.D., co-founder and executive director Mary E. Dolan, M.A., M.A. and board of directors member Arlene King-Berry, J.D. presented at the LDA’s 60th Annual International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Using the life stories of Judy Heumann and Mick Countee as case study examples, they educated the conference attendees about the self-advocacy skills needed to improve transition outcomes for students with learning disabilities. They also shared the “DC Heroes in the Disability Movement” lesson plans for teachers to use to highlight effective self-advocacy strategies and techniques.
While at the conference, our team wore capes with QR codes to recruit educators to apply for our Professional Development workshop being held this summer in Washington, D.C. We had over 100 applicants.
